Can a local customer use your website to hire you?

Seven checks for service businesses in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Port Moody. Open your site on a phone, work through each test and write down the first thing to fix. This takes about 20 minutes.

Before you start

Choose the service you most want enquiries for. Open its page on a phone as a first-time customer would. Use a real service area and a safe internal form test. This is an owner check, not a ranking score.

  1. 1. The first screen names the job

Test: Open your main service page on a phone. Without scrolling, can a new visitor name the exact service and the next action?

If it fails: Replace a broad headline such as ‘quality solutions’ with the work you actually do. Put a call or quote action beside it.

  2. 2. The service area is honest and specific

Test: Can a customer tell whether you serve their part of Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam or Port Moody, and whether travel or job limits apply?

If it fails: State the real coverage and limits. Add a city page only when you can offer useful local details, not a city-name swap.

  3. 3. A person can reach you with one thumb

Test: Tap the phone number. Find the quote form. Can both be reached without opening a long menu or zooming in?

If it fails: Make the number tappable and the contact action visible near the service explanation. Test it on a real phone.

  4. 4. The proof matches the service

Test: Does the page show an actual project, process, credential or review relevant to this work? Is its source clear?

If it fails: Use your own approved project photos and factual captions. Do not borrow a client image or invent a result to fill a gap.

  5. 5. The page loads and reads comfortably

Test: Try the page on mobile data. Are the text and buttons readable while images load? Does anything jump or cover the contact action?

If it fails: Resize oversized images, reserve image space and remove unnecessary scripts based on a measured page test.

  6. 6. The form reaches the business

Test: Submit a clearly labelled internal test. Does it reach the right inbox and show a useful confirmation to the visitor?

If it fails: Repair delivery or validation before increasing traffic. Mark the test as internal so it does not inflate your lead report.

  7. 7. You can tell a suitable enquiry from noise

Test: For recent contacts, can you identify the requested service, job area and whether the work fits your business?

If it fails: Track completed enquiries separately from qualified enquiries and booked jobs. Review them by landing page or source monthly.

Your next change

Pick one failed check that stops a customer from understanding, trusting or contacting you. Fix it, retest on a phone, then compare qualified enquiries over a sensible period. Avoid treating page views alone as leads.
